Hi, LDP and welcome to our Forum.
You must Check the WiFi option and Set Automatic Search (ON) to Make the Phone Auto-Connect to Any wireless point in range to prevent the phone for connecting to the 3G Network. When the 3G Connected the you will see a change in the Network logo Shows that it is connected and send or receive data.

I hope I helped you,

Hey... Thanks a lot! I've already checked on WiFi and it works perfectly well... However, can I be sure that the phone uses WiFi if connected at a place where the 3G-network is also accessable? (sorry if I appear a bit stupid... I just don't want to get chocked seeing my phone bill  Shocked Great forum btw... Looking forward to find good tips and advices on the features of the fabulous TD2!)

You are Not Stupid at all...The Problem is The Network LOGO MUST Change When you are connected to a 3G network, a 3G icon will be visible in the status bar { (3G) and with Two ِِArrow (-> <-) Under the (3G) icon } if you Find it like that...So the Phone is Connected through the 3G Network NOT WiFi.

You could try this app (disable data):

or:

Hi, I am Arun and new to this forum. Wondering is there any way to enable straight talk on TD2. I know it uses dual speaker phone and mic on TP2 from hardware point of view, however the features like conference on phone pad, calling individual or multi party from mail are some features which i feel can be modded.

Let me know if you have any solution to mod this. If the expectations are too high pardon me.

I'm not sure that straight talk meant calling from email - I am under the impression it means that all the features are integrated in the HTC communication suite - meaning you'll see buttons that let you activate a multi-party conference call as well as email etc. from contacts.

I might be wrong - but that how I understand the Straight Talk feature on the TP2.

On the D2 these built in shortcuts might not be there?

That would leave you with the option to initiate just normal 3-way phone calls / conference calls and use the speaker button.

You might be able to connect it to a conference pad via bluetooth.

Hi Joseph,

Let me eloborate it better. What i meant by calling from email is the call icon is displayed as soon as you open an email from your inbox right next the contact (mailid, or display name). This appears next to "To" and "CC" list as well.

On a click of the button the call gets initated if based on the number of people listed in that mail. I saw this on youtube (HTC World Congress - Launch of HTC Touch Pro 2 and HTC Diamond 2). This is one among the feature of Straight Talk. This feature is to reduce the navigation from your email to contacts, in case if you need to call the person who has sent the mail.

Secondly there was a feature of calling directly from the meeting alert from your calender. The number displays in the alert where you get dismiss and snooze option. By clicking the number it directly gets on to the call. Its useful when you have meetings synchronized with your calender, however i found this feature is available in TD2 as well.

Lastly there was a feature from your Dail Pad where you can shift from Singe Party to Multi Party calls. In Single Party call the "Talk" Button is enabled on your phone pad, but in case of multiparty option the "Conference" button is enabled on the phone pad and it provides the check box again each of the contact so that you can select the participants for the conference.

I heard the XDA guys are modding to get the Straight talk CAB file. But still a rumour not sure whether its happening or not.

Over and above this i need help in other applications.

I had installed S2U2 WVGA application for locking the TD2. Its an amazing application but unfortunately i have two issues with it.

1. Battery drains out like hell.
---With S2U2 application the battery last not even for a day
---Without S2U2 application the battery lasts atleast for two days.

2. Once the phone is fully charged the application freezes.

Incase if you are using this application let me know whether you are facing this issues and also how to overcome.

Regards

Arun

Hi, I`ve got a problem with Nodata on my TD2, it just doesn`t work at all. I installed app in device memory, not on sd, but when I hit a disable toggle, nothin` happen. It`s strange, `cause I also got Nodata on my Tytn II wm 6.1 and it works perfect. Any idea?

Nodata lets you use the phone without letting it connect to the internet.

I found that the tweaks and apps don't work well on the newer phones any more. Most are hit or miss and get a surprise data bill in the end.

Hi Joseph, do you know how/if I can open more than 2 tabs in the browser? Do I need another program to be able to do this?

I also realized that the browser doesn't show up in the list of running apps (accessed through notification bar) so that when I switch to another app, it's a little harder to switch back to the browser. Is there any way around this?

Thanks!
